Jason’s wife, her nuptial bed betrayed,
In his absence, took a jealous knife
To her sons. Since then, men are rife
With sense of pause at woman’s pow’r displayed.
Clytemnestra used a larger blade
To sever Agamemnon from this life
With cursed Cassandra, insult to his wife.
By huntress now the hunter’s game is played.
You, north star, wield beauty like these two.
Hellenic steel you do not wield. Forsooth,
You are master of the Seres’ art.
Twas’ your sister’s man, not yours, you slew
With loss of work, not life. And unborn youth
You breed and watch your own youth breed with heart.
